lomuibk.educational.description
Here you will find a reflexive exercise for students undertaking a school internship abroad. Using the imagery of a tree - roots, trunk and leaves - it guides students through examining their own cultural identity(ies) and musical backgrounds, as well as reflecting on their own assumptions about music education. The exercise is designed to be used throughout the school internship abroad, including pre-departure preparation, during the placement, and upon their return. Learning Objectives: - To be able to identify and articulate the cultural roots, values, and expressions that have shaped their identity as a musician and music educator. - To be able to reflect critically on the assumptions about music education they brought to their placement abroad. - To be able to recognize and describe how encountering a different educational and musical culture has illuminated aspects of their own background. - To be able to connect observations made during their placement to their own cultural and musical formation. - To be able to use structured reflection as a tool for personal and professional development before, during, and after their internship abroad
