Here you will find a set of practical tips for student teachers preparing to teach music in a language that is not their primary language. Drawing on strategies for verbal and non-verbal communication, the resource supports students in planning and delivering lessons effectively in intercultural and multilingual contexts. It is intended as a preparation tool for use before and during the school internship abroad. Learning Objectives: - To be able to approach multilingual and intercultural teaching contexts with confidence and a sense of preparation. - To be able to identify the key areas of preparation needed for teaching music in a language other than their primary language. - To be able to recognise a range of verbal and non-verbal communication strategies available to them in the classroom. - To be aware of cultural differences in communication and know what to observe and sensitively approach during their placement.

Students and mentor teachers should take some time to prepare for the conversation, reflecting on the questions in advance, about 30 minutes. The conversation itself requires approximately an hour.
